John Bonham, John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant came together in 1968 as Led Zeppelin. Over the next decade, the band became one of the most influential, innovative and successful groups in modern music, selling more than 300 million albums worldwide. Their songs are among the most famous in the history of rock ‘n’ roll and continue to inspire young and old fans around the world to this day.
On October 5, 1970, John Bonham, John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant released their album “Led Zeppelin III” in the USA, followed a few weeks later by the UK and other countries. The band’s third album in less than two years reached number 1 in the charts in numerous countries, including the USA and the UK (number 3 in Germany) and sold a total of 13 million copies worldwide. In addition to its overwhelming commercial success, the album also marked a musical turning point for Led Zeppelin, who expanded their heavy sound to include a wider range of styles, heard on acoustic-based songs such as “That’s The Way”, “Tangerine” and “Bron-Y- Aur Stomp”.
