American hard rock group Guns N’ Roses’ first studio album, Appetite for Destruction, was published by Geffen Records on July 21, 1987. Not much popular attention was given to it at first, and it wasn’t until the band toured and got a lot of airtime with their hits “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Paradise City,” and “Sweet Child o’ Mine” that Appetite for Destruction became a financial triumph the following year. The album went on to become the best-selling debut album and the seventh best-selling album of all time in the US when it peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200. It is also one of the best-selling albums worldwide, having sold over 30 million copies worldwide.
