Arctic Monkeys: AM | LP | Vinyl
AM, the initials of the band, represent much more in English: the start of a new day, an analogue radio frequency, and a declaration about existential meaning (being). That much is implied by the album title “AM” of Arctic Monkeys’ fifth album. It all comes together quite nicely, or to put it simply as drummer Matt Helder puts it in his characteristically direct way: “This is the album we always wanted to make.”
The Arctic Monkey’s fifth album, recorded in their adopted Los Angeles, was produced in a modest East Hollywood studio with longtime collaborator James Ford at the controls. It takes the greatest aspects of their first two albums and adds a new, modern spin. Bill Ryder Jones, Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello), and Josh Homme (QOTSA) all make guest appearances on “AM.”
